Baker & McKenzie launches a new and expanded edition of the Cross-Border Enforcement Center, a high-level comparative analysis of the enforcement of court judgments and arbitration awards across 44 jurisdictions.
At the height of a pandemic, companies around the world are bracing themselves for an increase in disputes, the first signs of which are already starting to emerge. These include disputes over contracts, property and payment defaults, amongst others. As a result, companies are more likely than ever before to find themselves having to enforce judgments and arbitration awards across borders.
The legal landscape for cross-border enforcement has also changed dramatically over the last few years. New conventions, such as the Hague Judgments Convention and the Singapore Mediation, have emerged, whilst existing ones, such as the New York Convention and Hague Choice of Court Convention, continue to add signatories.
