Emmanuel is an Asia-focused senior dispute resolution lawyer with expertise acting for clients in complex, cross-border disputes and situations. He represents clients at all levels of the Singapore Courts as well as in international arbitration proceedings. Emmanuel has been described as an "extremely impressive advocate" who can be "counted upon to drive a result" (Chambers, 2023) and an "excellent lawyer" (Legal 500, 2023). He has been recognized by Asian Legal Business as one of Asia's Super 50 Disputes Lawyers (2021 and 2022). Emmanuel is particularly noted for his expertise in the restructuring and insolvency space, focusing on restructurings, formal insolvencies, enforcement and recovery litigation. He features in the prestigious Global Restructuring Review 40 under 40 list of the most prominent R&I professionals globally, and is a ranked practitioner in leading legal directories. Within the Firm, Emmanuel sits on the Global Restructuring and Insolvency Steering Committee. Emmanuel previously co-led the international disputes function in a US oil & gas supermajor, where he managed litigation and situations across Asia, Middle East, Europe and Africa. Emmanuel works extensively on cross-border disputes and situations. His experience focuses on the Asia Pacific region where he has represented clients on some of the most prominent cross-border litigation and situations in recent years. Leveraging off this depth of experience, Emmanuel also regularly advises on risk avoidance and mitigation strategies, including contingency planning and strategic advice, often from a cross-jurisdictional perspective. Emmanuel has also been appointed as arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings, and sits on the panel of arbitrators of a number of prominent arbitral institutions.
